Summer Activities
Wow it seems like all we have been doing this summer is jumping from one activity to the next.
In June we were busy, we started out with a trip to Washington DC. Brett and I went with Rex and Emily Allen. It was so much fun and a relief from my everyday life. Emily and I went to the District several times while Brett and Rex were in meetings. Then when they got out we all went to do things.
We went to the DC temple. It was really pretty. The view going up to it was amazing because your felt like you were in a forest or something with all the tall green trees up against the freeway. We made it just in time to do initiatories. I was really nice to do those again. I don't think I have been to the temple for that purpose since right after I came home from my mission. So like 6 yrs. ago.
Then we went to a baseball game in the Nationals Stadium. It rained and the game wasn't too exciting but it was fun. We had dinner with a client of Rex's and it was interesting to hear them talk to Rex and Emily. At one time they offered to buy Rex a drink and of course he declined the beer. So later when we had dinner they paid but forgot to get us drinks. So Rex bought us some sodas and the guy felt really bad. He said laughingly "I guess if you don't drink beer then you don't drink at all." He felt super bad but we just laughed.
So that was our trip. Later in the month, Kendrick was baptized. That was quite the experience. He had a really hard week the week before. He told up that he didn't want to be baptized if he didn't know for himself that it was true. He asked if we were going to make he do it anyway. Of course we wouldn't. He asked what we would do if he didn't know by Sat. and we told him that we would just tell everyone that it wasn't going to happen right then. However, if he prayed and asked Heavenly Father to help him know if it was true then He would help. So all week he was so bogged down with confusion. It was really hard to watch.
Throughout the week we would talk about different things and I would share my testimony of things. I really felt like I was a missionary all over again. It was a great feeling when it was finally over. But while we were struggling with our little investigator it was so hard.
But finally Heavenly Father did answer his prayer. He said that he when he was talking to his Chris dad and his mom they said good luck at your baptism and at that moment he knew Heavenly Father was answering his prayer. He didn't know how exactly or why He did it that way but he was so happy. He knew for himself that the church was true and that all the little doubts that he had were just that doubts and he knew the truth of them. I couldn't wipe the smile off his face. He was crying and smiling so hard. It was truly a great blessing that we all received.
Saturday, June 20th he was baptized and he has been so grateful. He is excited to have the gift of the Holy Ghost and is loving life.
Then the last week in June we went to Yellowstone on the way to our Sorenson family reunion in Lovell, Wy.
Yellowstone was great but I think that outing will be better when all my kids are older and more interested in the different things. But having never been it was a really cool experience.
The reunion was really cool too. We went up to the ranch that my mom grew up on. It was really awesome to see all the places that my mom and uncles always talk about. I have only been up there once that I remember. And that memory is so bleak. I think I may have been like 5 or something. So that was really great to put a new memory to all the places that I've heard about.
Well then July 4th we stayed home but went to a firework derby. It was awesome. We actually have a website up for it. You can visit www.firederby.com or www.fireworkderby.com and after pioneer day we will have new pix and video of our 1st annual Firework Derby. We are super excited about it.
Ok you might already thing WOW you really have been busy but it isn't over yet.
We just barely got back Saturday afternoon from Lake Powell. We went there with Brett's siblings, their families and his parents. It was fun. We stayed a whole week. Yes and we served. It was hot and the water was warmish... But refreshing. The houseboat we stayed on was absolutely awesome. It wasn't top notch. But coming from "The Money Pit" our old house boat it was heaven. It had air conditioning and two bathrooms and bedrooms. It was great. I tried to wake board but that didn't work. It did make my forearms ache though.
The kids had a blast. Kendrick was all the beach early in the morning (before I woke up) with his cousin Kaitlyn... every morning that is how it was. Our younger kids had a great time learning to swim and then fishing with dad. I was surprised that Brett's brothers caught the fishing fever this year. They all brought their own stuff. It was nice because then Brett wasn't in charge of fishing and then he could help me with the kids.
Oh we went cliff jumping to. We went on a cliff that jumped from 0-12. Yeah I'm not a fan. I got a migraine after jumping on the 12ft. cliff. But oh well it was part of the experience.
So yeah busy busy busy. Now we have Lexi's birthday tomorrow and then our family pix sometime before the end of the month. Oh and then the Pioneer Day celebration with the firework derby. And other then that we really don't have any major plans. It will be nice to take a break.
But then next month not only does Kendrick go back to Arizona and Dylan will be crushed but we will all miss he so much.
Dylan should be preoccupied with Pre-School though. He should start in the middle of the month. I'm excited for him to start learning more and coming up with new things.
Well I guess that is all I have for you.

sounds like an eventful summer. I'm so glad Kendrick found out for himself and was baptized!
Oh my gosh go take a nap...I feel tired just reading about all you're doing! :) I miss you and your family. I can't believe Dylan will be in preschool. Time flies too fast.
Your insane! I can't believe how busy summer seems to get. That awesome Kendrick got his answer. I wish we could have been there. D.C. & Yellowstone sound amazing, I haven't been to either. Let get together soon.
