Update to Day 6
A LoTttt of driving today. We have been all over this country. The most significant was going out to Pilgrim Hot Springs.
It's this village out in the middle of no where. The road on the way out there was a roller coaster. We go up a hill and down unto puddles. Some of them were not puddles but ponds in the middle of the road. It was interesting to see the little park the kids could play in and there was a sandbox to. The kids had there dump trucks out there and it reminded me of my boys. Kinda made me miss them.
Ok I miss them a lot today.
I called them this afternoon when we went in to town for lunch. Dylan actually wanted to talk to me. He hasn't wanted to this whole trip. He's been too busy playing with cousins. Cooper was so much fun to. He said so enthusiastically " mommy I pee in the potty" I got so excited because he was and said "you did!! No way!" he said "yes mommy I did!" it was awesome to hear the excitement in his voice. But honestly it made me cry a little. And writing this right now makes me just want to be home with them. :{
anyhow, when we got back on the Dexter Hwy (which by the way is just a dirt road that goes to all these villages) we decided to go back to a spot we had been to before off that road. We passed a guy dad knows and he said we could follow him to his camp. We didn't go all the way because we are going to go back to the church to clean up and attend our meetings tomorrow.
But talking to him we found out that there are general crossing areas in the rivers. Dad didn't know about them. So Don told us where some more are. We needed to know because it is illegal to drive your vehicle in the streams, rivers, or creeks. So many salmon and other fish lay their eggs in the rivers that they don't want you to disturb the nests or have a mechanical problem and pollute the water.
Makes sense but that meant that we were pretty restricted to the roads that were not going through them.
Hopefully now we can get up in to Osbourne or even where Don is.
After talking to Don we drove back up on a little knoll and glassed over the river. We saw 2 cow moose and took pictures of them. Now we are on or drive back to the church. Sure hope we see something with horns soon.
Ohps we just saw a cow and calf moose off the side of the road.
There were a couple of funny things I forgot to mention. We flagged a car down to ask him if he had seen anything. As he was telling us where he had seen some bear he gave our truck a once over glance and said "well since your in a rental you could make it down there" haha so for the rest of the day we kept saying "well since we're in a rental".
Also back to the fact that we see moose bush and bear bush all over the place... Dad said "stop what's that?" and Brian said sarcastically "that my friend... is a camper!" it was hilarious. I busted up laughing for like a half hour. You know how you laugh forever and then you think about it after you've stopped but then thinking about again and again make you crack up every time?Yeah that was one of those times.
