For the LOVE of kids

Oh my word... if my kids can't get any crazier! Sometimes I feel like I am herding cats!
So I was helping Dylan get his clothes on after a grand bathroom experience (yeah he didn't quite make it and peed on his pants) and to top that off he had mud all over his shoes from playing outside so the bathroom now had it all over the floor... and to top that off Dylan thought it would be fun to smear the mud all over even more (I could see little fingerprints in the mud)... so while I was cleaning all that off, Cooper was on his own.
Yep you guessed it ... TROUBLE! He decided to "dip" my phone like you would milk and cookies... into my cup of water that I was drinking. Crap! So if I don't receive a phone call from you try to get a hold of my on Brett's phone. :) I am trying to dry it out so hopefully that will work.

But all in all you just have to laugh and smile. Or else you will go crazy!

2 Weeks Old

McCoy is now 2 wks. old. We took him in for his checkup today and everything is functioning great. I was a little worried about his billirubin because my doctors office didn't call us to tell us if 10.2 was good or not. So we asked about that today and turns out they like to see it under 10 but were he dropped so fast and so much he was fine with it being close to 10.
McCoy is no average kid when it comes to his height. His percentiles are: 51% for weight, 50% for head circumference, and well 90% for height. He is one tall skinny boy. I was glad to see that we have another child that is on the charts. Now hopefully he stays there and doesn't go to the small end of the charts. LOL
So get this... I have always heard that breast milk is the best thing you could give a baby. Well now they (doctors that change their minds every 10 yrs) are suggesting that babies that are only breast feed lack the proper amount of vitamins that otherwise is given in formula. So were McCoy is only breast feed my doctor is suggesting that we either supplement him with 1-2 2oz bottles of formula everyday or give him vitamin supplements. He did emphasize that this is just a suggestion but he has been doing it to his 2 mo. and it won't hurt him and it will help him to gain weight. He also said that he has known any of his patients to lack those vitamins... or to be worse off because they haven't been supplememnted and neither have the other 2 doctors in the office. So it is just crazy to me that medical information changes so dramatically sometimes. I am still in shock that they are "suggesting" that breast milk isn't good enough anymore.
But back to McCoy... he is doing just fine. He does have a little bit of a cough and a stuffy nose. So if it gets worse and not better then we have a prescription that is waiting for us at the pharmacy. That way we don't have to wait to get help to him.
Oh the joys of parenting.

Update for McCoy

Hey everyone-
I just thought I would give a little update for you. McCoy is now 6 days and doing great. We had to take him in to the hospital lab on Saturday. Just to get another jaundice test. It was 14.5 so they asked us to take him back in on Sunday. We did and it had dropped to 10.2. So much better.
I need to call the doctor today and make sure that is a good number but as far as I know he doesn't have to go back. We like that...lol
He is not my best sleeper. But I do manage to get some sleep. I think my body knows something I don't and isn't requesting as much sleep as it has in times past. I guess that is both good and bad. But we love our little Coy Coy that is for sure.

Baby Announcement

Well here is McCoy's birth announcement. I will be sending them to people that I have address' for but I know I don't have address' for all of you. If you would like a physical announcement then email me or give me your info some how.
His blessing will be Feb. 15 @ 1pm. However, it will be a busy sacrament mtg. because it is also a double homecoming for missionaries and then the blessing. So come early because one of the homecomings is for one of Alan Osmond's sons. There may or may not be alot of people there.
We would love to see you there. Afterward there will be a small get together at our house. Please come by.

Thanks.

McCoy Rex Michaelis

Here I am world!

Wednesday, February 4, 2009

Here is Baby Michaelis. We have a name but we are waiting to inform all parties involved...lol that is before we disclose his true identity.

He's FINALLY here!!!

He's here everyone!!! I will get pictures up as soon as I can. Obviously, they aren't the most glamorous. First day pictures never are. However, he is mine and he is here.
Facts are: 8 LBS. 1 OZ. 21 IN. Can you believe it? WOW is all I have to say... that and he is still so tiny.
I was afraid that having him so much later then the other two would cause for him to be a big baby and then I would feel robbed of my tiny little one. But no I don't he is sooooo tiny.

Oh and no we don't have a name yet. The name that we were set on just doesn't seem to fit. So we are still working and we will let you know soon.

38 weeks & 6 days

Yep you guessed it... I am still carrying this child of mine. LOL I guess I just don't have the motherly instinct that some have. I didn't guess the gender correctly nor the due date.
So yeah I just thought I would update you guys. It is Tuesday morning and I had an appointment yesterday. I was only dilated 1cm and wasn't softened at all. Some things have changed since yesterday that I can tell but still nothing that is going to push me into labor. I guess I will just keep trying little tricks and such. But honestly, I am still waiting to see if he will come without any help. However, on that note I think we will have a delivery on Thurs. Feb. 5th.
Well see.
